Who am I?

I am a UX designer born in the East but settled in the West. Currently, I am located in London.

I'm a systems thinker and strong empathiser. I care about user value, clarity, and transforming complex challenges into intuitive products. I enjoy tackling problems from start to finish, from initial user research, conception to high-fidelity prototyping. My favourite moments are discovering the unknowns about business and humans, and working with stakeholders and engineers to bring a solution to life.

Don’t Make Me Think, Revisited: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability / the first book to start my designer journey, short, easy to read, but essential.
User Stories Applied: For Agile Software Development / a good introduction to user stories and iteration planning helped me generate user need statements passed onto Agile development team.
Shipping Greatness / plenty of insightful nuggets with a healthy dose of sharp wit poking both business and technology; my main takeaway from this book - shipping is about managing tradeoffs and "done is better than perfect".

The Lean Startup: How Constant Innovation Creates Radically Successful Business / a huge emphasis on the core of the lean startup model: build-measure-learn feedback loop - validating assumptions, rapid testing of ideas, and learning from feedback.
Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done / a must-read book for all managers as people, structure and strategy make things happen.
The Score Takes Care of Itself: My Philosophy of Leadership / the best leadership book that I've read. This novel really got me thinking about what I have done wrong as a leader before, whether that be in sports or in my everyday life.

Personal development

Mindfulness Meditation with Jon Kabat-Zinn / the best meditation class I’ve taken, helping me stay focused, maximise productivity and relieve stress.
MIT u.lab: Leading From the Emerging Future / three-month online course on edX with an emphasis on deep listening, precise observation and meaningful dialogue gaining the wisdom and energy for transforming business, society and self.
Harvard’s Positive Psychology / focusing on the psychological aspects of a fulfilling and flourishing life, including happiness, self-esteem, empathy, friendship, love, achievement, creativity, music, spirituality, and humour.

Lastly, a gift of marathon mentality

“Here’s a metaphor for the user experience development process that I often use when describing problems to my colleagues: A marathon is not a sprint.
Product development is rarely a sprint. More often, there will be times when you push forward, building prototypes and generating ideas, followed by times when you pull back, testing what you’ve built, seeing how the pieces fit together, and refining the big picture for the project. Some tasks are best undertaken with an emphasis on speed; others require a more deliberate approach. Good marathon runners know which is which—so should you.
Thoughtful, deliberate design decisions will cost you time in the short term, but they will save you much more time in the long term.“
